Day 2: You probably want a fake tree

Yeah, we said it, and we’re as shocked with ourselves as you are. For most people, the best seasonal plantlife for the planet is made of plastic. Why? Because even when we’re talking au naturale versus very (very) manufactured, reusables come out on top just about every time—that is, if you keep them for long enough or shop secondhand. And, to our joyful surprise, the break-even point for a faux fir is blessedly short. Sure, if you pine for a fresh conifer, there are ways to help reduce its impact, too, but that math makes imitation vegetation hard to beat.
